About Sarah
Helping and Healing
Sarah Morrau is a trained singer/songwriter and pianist. A licensed mental health practitioner, yoga instructor, and contemporary music director at Olivet Lutheran Church, Sarah’s life work is steeped in helping and healing.
From a young age, Sarah understood the restorative and comforting power of music. Encouraged by her music-loving parents to pursue voice and piano, Sarah studied classical and jazz, and later added songwriting and recording to her repertoire.
During life’s trials Sarah finds serenity in music and feels honored when given the opportunity to help others heal through song.
Whether it’s a large crowd, or a more intimate venue, Sarah appreciates connecting through her performances. She enjoys that connection in her other endeavors as well, whether it be on the yoga mat or helping people at her job as an intake counselor at a psychiatric hospital.
Sarah's Style
Folk, jazz, classic and contemporary standards
With a soul-filled sound, Sarah’s soothing voice undulates the likes of Cat Stevens, Ella Fitzgerald, Dave Brubeck, The Beatles, and Crosby, Stills Nash and Young, all of whom her parents listened to while she was growing up.
Sarah enjoys covering folk, jazz, traditional hymns, and holiday standards but no matter the style, she brings a spiritual element to each song, focusing on using her voice with intention. The result is an influential and tranquil sound.

Collaboration is a treasured part of Sarah’s repertoire. She often works with local artists including Rebekka DeVries, Nita Velo, and Connie Hill.
Sarah met classically trained pianist Rebekka DeVries 25 years ago at KDSU, the campus radio station at North Dakota State University where both of them worked. The two uncovered a common love of music and began collaborating. What resulted was not only a wonderful musical partnership, but true melodic chemistry, and deep friendship bond. Sarah and Rebekka perform regularly at the Plains Art Museum Noon Holiday Concerts. They were also featured on Prairie Public Televisions’ Prairie Musicians and with the Angels of Muse program.
Sarah was involved every year with the Annual Celebration of Women and their Music, founded by Deb Jenkins. The Arts Partnership awarded Sarah several grants, some of which she used to take voice lessons and record originals and jazz standards.
